About the event
The greatest gift we can give the people we work with is our own regulated nervous system. A nourished nervous system can hold the deepest space, and access the well of compassion in our hearts. "You can't pour from an empty cup".
Who is this retreat for?
This evening retreat is open to therapists, counsellors, helpers, healers, carers and teachers of any description - if you work helping humans, then this retreat is for you. This is an opportunity to turn your kindness and tenderness inwards towards yourself, and give your mind, body and spirit the nourishment you deserve.
What to expect:
The retreat will start with a short introduction where you will hear a little about the nervous system, the importance of nourishment, and an introduction to the practices.
We will then go on a journey together through breathwork techniques to regulate the nervous system, mindful movement* to release tension from the body Yoga Nidra** to experience deep, restoring rest.
The practices are designed to activate and tone your vagus nerve, which is a key component in your relaxation response, by creating a feeling of safety in your body. You will learn several techniques which you can add to your daily routine to nourish your nervous system.
*Mindful movement will be very gentle. You will be encouraged to do just what feels good and right for your body.
** Yoga Nidra (a.k.a yogic sleep) is a guided meditation practiced lying down (or reclined) where I will guide you through relaxation techniques to help you into a deep relaxation state similar to trance/hypnosis. It is a very beautiful and loving practice from which you will feel rested and restored. Everyone will receive a free guided Yoga Nidra audio file, to support you with your ongoing nervous system nourishment.
